One of CIC's most recognized strengths is its expertise in the area of International Security Institutions. Launched in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks, the project on the Evolution of Multilateral Security Institutions aims to identify strategic priorities for strengthening these institutions and for developing innovative security mechanisms. As part of this work, the Center launched a project on Global Peace Operations, encompassing an Annual Review of current missions and over-arching issues. The project on Strengthening Multilateral Approaches to Nuclear and Biological Weapons provides analytical and research support to multilateral institutions confronting immediate crises in nonproliferation as well as long-term challenges in institutional reforms. CIC’s project on Humanitarian Action in a New Security Era aims to provide research on humanitarian actors and institutions in a changing security context. Managing Global Insecurity aims to advance a strong agenda for reform of multilateral security institutions and specifically address why it is in the U.S. national interest to do so. The program's newest project, Climate Change and Global Public Goods, is designed to help the development of practical, workable responses to climate change - and in particular, to ensure that strategies for managing climate change are integrated effectively with solutions to other global public goods issues such as energy security, sound resource management and food security.
